Police Warns Against Vandalism of its Structures

Police in Dedza have warned people of Kafere area against vandalising its structures when misunderstandings erupt between law enforcers and the community.

Dedza Police Station Officer, Senior Superintendent Alexander Kaonga made the remarks on the sideline of launching construction works for a police unit in the area.

Kaonga said officers are ready to serve the community and asked for good will.

"People and police officers should find ways of resolving their differences other than setting our structures ablaze," he said.

He also reminded traditional leaders on their responsibility and asked them to establish community policing structures that will work together with the police in the area.

Kaonga therefore advised community members to refrain from taking laws into their hands.

Group village head Tsumbi was full of praise, saying the police unit will open up opportunities for more development projects in the area.

“This police unit will help us have security officers closer, thereby reducing crime rate which has been a big concern for people in this area.

Dedza District Council director of public works Godfrey Nkhata said the project will take 3 months to be completed.

During the event, Dedza District Council handed over the construction project to Modern Ways Construction company.

Kafele area is located at 100 kilometres away from Dedza Police Station to the North West Dedza District.
