Road Accident Claims Life in Nkhotakota

A 28- year-old man has died in the evening of June 19, 2021, after being hit by unknown motor vehicle at Green Corner junction along Nkhotakota-Kasungu- Nkhufi road.

Nkhotakota Police Public Relations Officer Paul Malimwe says the man has been identified as Mika Mangwaya who hailed from Matekenya Village under Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in the district.

“On the fateful night, the unknown motor vehicle which was driven by unknown driver was coming from Nkhotakota boma heading Salima direction,” Malimwe says.

He adds,” upon arrival at Green Corner junction, he hit a pedestrian (deceased) who was crossing the road from left to the right side of the road and did not stop.”

Following the impact, Mangwaya sustained head injuries and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Nkhotakota District Hospital.

Police are appealing to all road users to observe road signs and to report to police whenever they have involved in road accident in order to avoid similar incidents.
