Tree Kills Man in Ntchisi

A 43-year old man has died after a tree fell on him on February 22, 2020 at Mchere village in the Traditional Authority Malenga in Ntchisi district.

The deceased has been identified as Kennedy Nicks.

Ntchisi Police Station Public Relations Officer Richard Mwakayoka Kaponda said on the material day Nicks went to his garden to see his friends who were cutting down a tree for timber.

"As the tree was falling down, it hit him 3 mitres away and he died on the spot," he said.

Postmortem conducted indicated that death was due to head injuries and no foul play has been suspected.

Police advise the public to be cautious when cutting trees and should observe the direction of the wind.
