Malawian students are graduating from universities across Türkiye this season. Here are their stories of hard work and what comes next.
As graduation ceremonies continue across universities in Türkiye, Malawian students are once again making their mark through outstanding academic achievements.
This year, a number of members of Malawian Scholars in Türkiye (MAST) have successfully completed their studies in diverse fields, adding to the growing list of Malawians excelling on the international stage.
Among them is Sheriff Chewasi, who graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Economics in Business Administration from Dokuz Eylül University in İzmir. He describes his programme as one that blends economic theory with practical business application, equipping graduates with the analytical skills needed to solve real business challenges and support effective decision making in organisations.
Also celebrating is Peter Jeke, who earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from Samsun University after completing one year of Turkish language studies and four years of undergraduate education.
Looking back on his journey, Jeke says studying in Türkiye shaped him both academically and personally, teaching him valuable lessons about perseverance, growth and the importance of always striving to give his best.
Another remarkable achievement comes from Tasneem Luheenah Kuipa, who graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Sivas Cumhuriyet University. She says her studies gave her a strong academic foundation in economics and inspired her to pursue a Master's degree in Banking and Finance while continuing to grow her business interests. She encourages aspiring economists to embrace challenges, remain resilient and never stop believing in themselves.
The celebrations also reached Sakarya University, where Thokozani Gunda Phiri graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering. A former student of Dedza Government Secondary School, Phiri earned an impressive 11 points in the Malawi School Certificate of Education examinations, securing the prestigious Turkish Government Scholarship that paved the way for his studies in Türkiye.
These graduates represent more than personal success. They embody the resilience, discipline and ambition of a generation of young Malawians pursuing excellence beyond their borders. Their achievements stand as a powerful reminder that with hard work, determination and access to quality education, Malawian students can thrive anywhere in the world.
As they embark on the next chapter of their lives, they carry not only academic qualifications but also the hope of contributing to Malawi's development through innovation, leadership and professional excellence. Their journeys will undoubtedly inspire many more young Malawians to dream bigger, work harder and believe that anything is possible.
